Best firmware for Medialink Smart Home 1200s

    Hi,

Firstly, apologies for asking in English.

I have just got a Medialink Smart Home 1200s and want to know what is the best firmware for it and how I may update my receiver with it.

    Thanks.

Thankyou. I have previously found and downloaded file 1200S_opensource_v.1576.zip

This is wrong? I have not put it on the receiver as I don't want to 'brick it! Where can I fine v5010?

No, the 1200S_opensource_v.1576.zip you've downloaded is the correct software for the ML1200s, but it is quite an old one. The most recent firmware for your receiver is the v.5007, but my recommendation is to stay away from this version. The 5xxx-versions are imho more unstable than the previous ones and have some serious issues with the cardreader. If you're using smartcards with the ML1200s and want to work them reliable & properly, then I would suggest to use the v.3016. It's imho the best software so far, surprisingly stable for a Medialink-receiver and the built-in backup-function doesn't create corrupt files as it sadly happens quite often with v.5007.

The GUI/Menu of the ML1200s has changed a lot since the earlier versions of the software, not for the better I'd say, but that might be only my opinion. ;-)
The receiver does a checksum-test and identifies wrong firmwares before installing them. A wrong/corrupt/broken firmware will be refused, so don't worry. Chances are very low that you'll brick the receiver...

Thanks again! Where is the best site to get v.3016? I don't think I will be using with smartcards though. I am more interested in getting IPTV stuff.

For the most up to date IPTV-lists the "v.5007_1200S_multimedia_iptv_opensource" might be the best choice:

Thanks. I'm looking forward to playing around with this reciever. I have another Medialink reciever, a 2card and have been disappointed that IPTV doesn't work well at all.

Compared to the meanwhile quite old 2card, the ML1200S offers a modern chipset with higher processing power and much more internal memory. That should help a lot when it comes to IPTV. You can easily try different firmwares with the ML1200S to find out if there is a noticeable difference and which one works best for you. The ML1200S allows downgrading the firmware via USB, so you have every possible option available. Don't forget to save your settings before "experimenting" with different firmwares! Good luck!

It seems they remove the older versions of the firmwares as soon as a new one is available. I have a backup of the v.3016 for the ML1200s on an external harddrive somewhere, definitely not sure that I'm able to find it quickly. I'll upload and add it to the download-database here in the next 1-2 days...

Many thanks. I thought I was going blind as could not find it! I have another site that does "Triple Stalker" firmware. Is this any good?

    Hi there!
I am a bit surprised about the firmware-versions mentioned above. The current version is v5017 as for the IPTV/SAT-CS Kombi for which the 1200S is intended for.
You may have to apply an earlier version via USB first, because the 1200S does not connect to the FTP-Server as it comes out of the box, however after upgrading to
say v5015 it will show the newer versions v5016, v5017 incl. changelog in the FTP menue and it can be downloaded direkt from Web.
I can also confirm that both options: Sat-CS as well as IPTV via m3U-file is working quite well, however I have no experience with internal card-usage nor stalker
    application software.
